Treyten Lapcevich led the field from Brandon Watson in practice today at Delaware Speedway for the NASCAR Pinty Series Championship Round.
Lapcevich and Watson both put in a best time of 18.68 seconds, however due to the #20 car being ahead in owner points over the #9 car. Lapcevich placed above Watson.
The #17 car of D.J. Kennington wasn’t far behind the top two, with only a tenth of a second between Kennington and Watson.
The #59 car of Gary Klutt had a vibration in practice, which limited him to only run a couple of laps. I spoke with Klutt on what kind of adjustments they are looking to make ahead of qualifying.
“Nothing really, looking to just focus on learning the track,” said Klutt.
Championship leader Marc-Antoine Camirand was a little off the pace compared to the top runners, finishing practice with a best time of 19.02 seconds.
Single Car Qualifying is set for 3:20 p.m., and should be a close battle between Lapcevich, Watson and Kennington. Stay tuned for my post-qualifying report later today.
